Somalia’s South West state president vows to eradicate Al Shabaab


MOGADISHU – Somalia’s newly elected President of South West State, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamud has held talks with security and military officials in Baidoa town, some 250km southwest of Mogadishu.

President Mohamud urged both security and military officials to rump up the security measures and war on Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.

He called on military officials to launch joint offensive against Al Shabaab in the region.

The Islamist militant group, which is fighting to overthrow the Western-backed government, vowed to rump up its attacks on diplomatic areas in Somalia.

The al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab has been fighting for more than ten years in Somalia
